Biography of Nicole Scherzinger

Nicole Elikolani Prescovia Scherzinger or famously known as Nicole Scherzinger is a dancer and singer. Nicole was born on the 29th of June 1978 in the beautiful city of Honolulu in Hawaii. Although Nicole did not spend much of her time in Hawaii, the singer spent most of her childhood in Louisville, Kentucky.

The singer and her mom moved to Louisville when her mother and father separated when she was still 6 years old. Nicole has Hawaiian, Russian and Filipino blood running in her.

The singer spent her high school days in a performing arts school and after she graduated she went to college at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Nicole majored in arts and having a minor of dancing but later on, she decided to pause her college life to pursue music.

After leaving college Nicole became a 2nd voice or back-up vocalist in the rock group Days of The New that was performing in the late ’90s. Later then Nicole became a contestant in the very first season of Popstars by WB televisions in 2001. Nicole won and became the lead singer of an all-female pop group Eden’ Crush.

Nicole and the group released their first single, Get over Yourself which was very successful being selected in the Billboard top 100 top 10. But after the success of the group they did not last that long and they separate ways.

Nicole continued her career, she changes her screen name to Nicole Kea. Later after changing her screen name, she wrote a track that was in the soundtrack of the movie 50 first Dates, starred by Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

In 2003, a popular group from Los Angeles called the Pussycat Dolls was searching for new members for their recasting. The group was transitioning into a commercial pop and R&B group, It is where Nicole landed the spot as the lead singer of the group. Though Nicole ends up practically the only voice you will hear in the group’s debut.

She was also the only one in the group to contribute to the songwriting of their album. The Pussycat Dolls were very successful, they sell millions of copies of their album.

After the success, Nicole then collaborated as a solo with various stars such as P. Diddy, Rihanna, Avant, and Will Smith. Nicole was setting up to release her solo album “Her name is Nicole”. Meanwhile, the group was on the road continuing to promote their debut. The scheduled release of her album was in the summer or 2007 but many of the singles did not hit the chart so it was scrapped in 2008.

After Nicole’s solo debut was not much of a success, she paid more attention to her group’s upcoming 2nd album. The 2nd album was set to release in 2008, the Doll Domination, the album’s debut was very successful all over the world. The album hit the chart both in the United States and the United Kingdom, although it did not last that long.

Nicole started to think about leaving the group after releasing a reworked version of the song Jai Ho with AR Rahman which was a very successful hit. She finished her obligations with the group. At the end of the year, Nicole accepted the invitation to judge in the TV show, The Sing-Off.

In 2010 there were more projects for her, she joined the 10th season of the Dancing with the Stars as a celebrity contestant. In the same year, the singer decided to enter the business industry by teaming up with the clothing store C and A. Nicole targeted their stores that reside in Brazil to put up her collection of pieces of jewelry, shoes, handbags and more.

On the 21st of March 2011, Nicole released her debut album Killer Love in the United Kingdom. The album made a slight success in some places, the album sold about 140,000 copies and reached number 8 on the UK album chart. As a solo artist, the song Don’t Hold Your Breath in the album was her first number-one single in the UK singles chart. Also, both of her two singles, Right There and Poison reached the number three spot.

The singer was meant to be the co-host of Steve Jones in the very first season of The X Factor US, but she was put in the judging panel replacing Cheryl Cole. Nicole’s final contestant was Josh Krajcik was the runner-up in that season as she mentored the 30 above. Nicole performed on the 25th anniversary of The Phantom of the Opera in December of 2011.

Nicole signed with Sony Music Entertainment

Nicole and Sony Music Entertainment end up with an agreement Nicole signed with them in 2014 and expects to get $4.5 million in the deal. She also agreed with RCA Records and signed a deal just a month after the contract with Sony Music Entertainment.

Missguided, an online retailer, and Nicole decided to collaborate. With Nicole designing some of their products that will go out in the market in March of 2014. Missguided did well in sales profit by 70% because of their collaboration.

Big Fat Lie was Nicole’s 2nd studio album and it was released in October of 2014. It was on the UK Albums Chart for 2 weeks and it reached as high as the top 17. But, because it was not successful enough, the RCA Records decided to cut ties with the singer.

In the variety show, I Can Do That, where celebrities are tasked to do things they have never done before. Nicole became the winner of the game on the 30th of June 2015. In the Special Olympic World Summer Games, held in Washington D.C in 2015, Nicole performed the national anthem on the opening of the games.

Furthermore, Ella Fitzgerald, Roberta Flack, and Tina Turner are some of the artists she listens to growing up. It is noticeable that while performing Nicole is copying some of Tina’s moves.

As the artist became older she looked up to Mariah Carey. She also admired the Black Eyed Peas. It was the way they do their music that inspires her most. Also, she wishes she could work with them one day. Nicole also loves to listen to Adele’s music and when she was still a teenager she loves Prince so much.
